Happy Lucky 13! Many of you texted me this sentiment on New Year's Day! I thought how wonderful so many of our women are to see the positive possibilities of this new year! I personally had not put that spin on 2013. Talk about turning a negative into a positive!

 

Positive it will be in 2013 for our membership! As I went on the website this morning in the beautiful Sierra Nevadas near Lake Tahoe, I noticed that last year on this date I wrote an article to you about 2012. So I couldn't let another minute go by without telling you that 2013 will be lucky for us indeed. I have found a wonderful friend and co-hart, Tami Murphy, who is a recent GNO girl that is willing to help me find all the great places to go on Tuesday nights. Tami and I have been putting our heads together to come up with lots of fun things for our Membership this year! Next week we will be sending out an email introducing you to her. We will be telling you about the wonderful plans for 2013 etc.....

On Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 fifty+ of our lucky members were able to go to the Governor's Mansion for an unbelievable GNO Tuesday.

 

Your Governor, Mary Fallin, was a gracious hostess. She took us on an amazing tour of the Mansion. Her knowledge of the history of the Mansion and previous Governors was so interesting to our members. She showed us the step in the Mansion with her name, Mary Fallin Christensen 2011-2015 along with previous Governors.

 

She regaled us with humorous stories of meeting her husband and their ultimate engagement. There were several cheers from our group as she shared their courting conversations.

 

The food and libation was fabulous.

 

It was a magical night for our Members. To get a tour of the private quarters of a "seated" Governor by that Governor is "priceless". We all felt very priviledged.

 

I hope you will join us the next time we visit the Governor for Girls Night Out!!

 

 

 

  Get ready for an awesome year for our GNO members! You have some requests of GNO Society and we can make it happen. Travel,  new locations for GNO Tuesdays and lots of events around town will be on our Calendar and Upcoming Social Events! So check out your website often to see what is going on in your community.

 

  This year we will be instituting a Membership Card that you can show area merchants for discounts etc.... Our Membership is $50/year. This is quite a bargain when you consider that 51 weeks of the year we meet every Tuesday for fun, food and libation. We contact the area restaurants for these Tuesday early evening outings from 5:30 until 7:00pm for complimentary hors d' ouerves and other specials. Don't forget the awesome travel discounts we pass on to our Membership. And, last but not least, every year we host a Christmas Party for our Members and their significant others including fun, food, libation and GIFTS!! Just click on Membership in the Left Hand Navigation of this page and pay through Paypal. Also, in Membership is the GNO Membership Application which lists where to send your check. We accept cash or checks in person at our events!

 

  If you own a business, you have an added benefit for your $50. You do not have to have a Business Membership. And our Membership of over 200 women in the metro area are your customers!

  Several people have asked me lately, "How did GNO begin?" I love this story because it can show the "Power of Women"! If you are like me, when I am in a relationship, my soul mate becomes my best friend. My husband, Allen, definitely was my very best friend and we used to say that we were "joined at the hip side by side".  Allen was a smart man. He knew that, as a woman, I needed more than him as a "best friend". He encouraged me to go out with my friends to various functions etc.... After he passed away, I had friends, but did I really? Was I a "best friend" to anyone?

  Just look at us now! We are now into the social networking that you have all craved. Or should I say, some of you crave! Not to worry, if you do not have a Facebook account, do not get one! If you do not have a Linked In account, do not get one. If you do not have a Twitter account, do not get one! However, if you want your website to be more interactive with your lifestyle jump on board with these sights. First of all Facebook does not have to be the scary social network that you have been warned about. If you join, keep your Privacy settings at the highest. Facebook will walk you through doing this. Linked In can be the same way, however, most people like it for the business prospects and networking capabilities. Twitter, I find, is the most harmless. You sign up for free on your phone or your computer. Or you can simply double click on the icon on this page and follow the directions to sign up. You pick who you want to follow. It's really that simple. You definitely want to follow gnosociety2fun. That's me!
